There are several steps you can take to ensure your home is secure.
Some of these steps may initially be obvious, however others are less obvious and if followed correctly, may be the difference between a secure and none secure home.

1) If you have any windows in exterior doors such as your front door, ensure that the window is at least 40 inches away from any locks and post boxes.

2) Fit security locks to your windows and whenever possible, ensure they are kept locked.

3) Make sure that all tools, ladders and garden maintenance equipment are kept locked away and not left in the open.

4) Ensure you have a working alarm in your home, and more importantly, ensure you use it.

5) Consider having the extra security of a pet dog.  A dog is an excellent intruder alarm and deterrent.

6) Keep your home well lit at all times, particularly when you are out of the house or on holiday.

7)  Secure all your personal items of both sentimental and financial value in a security safe in your home.  These safes can be fixed in wardrobes or cupboards and will give you that extra piece of mind if the unfortunate event of a burglary occurs.

Ensuring that your home is always secure is extremely important, and something that is sometimes looked over by many home owners who feel they live in a safe area.

However, regardless of where you live, you should always take the necessary precautions to ensure your home and its contents are secure against theft and potential damage.
