You have probably seen them in the movies and know that they are the epitome of bank storage and security.  However, security vaults are also finding their way into homes and other businesses.  There are also a variety of companies that offer off-site vault storage for documents, valuables and electronic media.  They are finely crafted of a special mixture of proprietary agents and concrete, reinforced with steel rods.  This champion in the world of safes offers the utmost protection against theft, fire and natural disaster.

Where They Are Used

Industries that use security vaults include banks, casinos, museums and jewelers.  They are also used in information technology to store electronic media such as disks, magnetic backup tapes and computer equipment.  These vaults are made especially to maintain the required temperature for reducing the humidity level, which could damage the media.  This is also important with articles that may be stored in museums such as paintings and historic artifacts.

Designed today with doors of polished stainless steel finish and coordinating operating wheel, security vaults are entering the private home.  More and more people today are finding it necessary to store large amounts of electronic data, documentation and valuables in their homes.  They do not want to rely on outside sources or they simply want the added convenience of at-home security.  In addition, many homes today are also serving as offices, as a greater number of professionals are becoming their own boss.

A Look Inside

Today’s security vaults are designed with certain safeguards in mind.  They offer ventilation in the event someone gets accidentally trapped inside.  The ventilation system allows air from outside into the vault.  There are also slots cut into the door so that those on the outside can pass items to the person inside.

The vault door is comprised of a concrete and additive mixture with steel reinforcements.  There is a vertical locking bar for added security to the dual-combination or electronic keypad locking mechanism.  They are often equipped with a time-release so that they can only be accessed after a set amount of time after the last entry.

Often vault doors are purchased to be installed directly into drywall in offices or retail organizations.  The door offers the level of security necessary for that particular business and reinforced walls are not required.  These doors are made of concrete with steel reinforcements, just as they are made when housing a full security vault.

Security vaults are available in many sizes and protection levels, depending on the needs of the individual or business.  They are generally custom-made for banks and are the first thing installed during construction.  Security vaults are a whole new level of protection against theft, fire and natural disaster for businesses and homeowners alike.
