The danger of a fire in your home or work may seem like an unlikely event that only happens on very few occasions, and most of us never have to deal with the consequences of such an event!

But if you think about it logically, there is certainly a good reason why ever home in the UK should, by law, install a minimum of one working fire alarm! There is also a good reason we check these alarms on a regular basis, replacing flat batteries and conducting fire alarm tests at work!

There is a reason businesses have stringent fire safety policies and procedures, and why fire engines are constantly steaming down the roads heading to their next blaze!

Now you will probably say that the reasons behind this are for the physical safety of people, homeowners and employees alike, and you would most certainly be right!

Nevertheless, besides this, there are also certain items of value that if lost in a fire are either irreplaceable, or will cause extreme inconvenience! So why not invest that extra bit of money in an additional insurance policy? Namely a fire safe.

So how do you go about choosing the best fire safe? Well your individual requirements will usually determine the type of fire safe you purchase. These safes come in all different shapes and sizes, can be fixed or removable, have different locking systems, and probably most importantly, are measured for their fire resistant qualities.

This means that some fire safes would withstand a fire for 1 hour, whereas others (probably the more expensive ones), would withstand a fire for 3 hours.

It is therefore a good idea to invest some time into choosing your fire safe, but don't waste any time in purchasing one, you never know when it may come in handy.
